After coming through the famous youth system at Manchester United, David Fox played over 300 matches in England’s top four leagues, including spells at Norwich City, Blackpool and Plymouth Argyle.

Now, as Loans Manager at Huddersfield Town, part of Fox’s remit is to help young players develop and achieve their dreams.

In the video below, Fox explains how, if he were to wind back the clock, he would've broadened his horizons and experienced playing outside of England if more opportunities were available to him at the time.

Under the tutelage of Dutch coach René Meulensteen at Manchester United, who went on to be Sir Alex Ferguson's Assistant Manager, Fox was intrigued by the prospect of testing himself in the Netherlands.

As a technical midfielder, he felt the environment was well suited to his skills. But he didn’t have the contacts to make the move a reality.

“I didn’t know anyone in the Netherlands," Fox says. "If I look back now, at the age of 20 or 21, if someone had offered me (the TransferRoom platform) and the ability to speak directly to Dutch agents, that’s something I would’ve done.
