Rosenberg: Why agents don’t wrongly represent my players anymore
by Jack Hyom

Former Sweden striker, now the co-owner of Full Potential Agency, no longer needs to send clubs contracts to verify his representation of a player since joining TransferRoom.

Even sometimes [before joining TransferRoom] I had to send the contracts of the players because the clubs have been contacted by so many agencies. After joining TransferRoom that has never happened.

Co-Owner, Full Potential Agency

How to stop intermediaries wrongly pitching your players

The competition to represent the best players and get the best deals as an agent is huge in modern football.

And showing the right people at a football club that you are the right agent for your player is even harder.

Clubs often get multiple pitches from agents or intermediaries claiming to represent the same player.

And for the club decision-makers and agency who do represent the player, they will often have to go through an intermediary who will complicate the process and charge commission for helping to broker the deal.

Markus Rosenberg knows all about that from two sides of a transfer, as a player and an agent.

Rosenberg had a stellar playing career. He won 33 caps for Sweden and was part of their squad for three major tournaments.

His club career, which started and finished with long spells at his boyhood club Malmö FF, included two multi-million euro transfers plus spells at Ajax, Werder Bremen, Racing Santander and West Bromwich Albion.

After scoring a 96th-minute winner in his final match for Malmö, he moved straight into the agency world, co-founding Full Potential Agency alongside another ex-player, Petter Andersson.

They have been on TransferRoom as a Trusted Agency since the platform opened up to agents in 2021, and through football’s only transfer marketplace, they get verified by their players as their representatives, so clubs instantly know who to go to.

“Even sometimes [before joining TransferRoom] I had to send the contracts of the players because the clubs have been contacted by so many agencies,” Rosenberg said in the video below. “After joining TransferRoom that has never happened.”

Markus Rosenberg: From player to Trusted Agent

Rosenberg was speaking at the TransferRoom Summit in Istanbul in November 2024, when over 300 clubs and a selection of top Trusted Agents met for two days of direct transfer talks and networking in the lead-up to the January Transfer Window.

And through TransferRoom’s online platform, he can get direct access to the decision-makers at over 800 clubs worldwide, which provides the foundation for building club relationships and securing the best deals for his players over the long term.

“At this moment, I still see TransferRoom as a place to get contacts,” Rosenberg added. “I see it as an investment. It’s not about getting the deal done directly. You have to see in the long term, and if you see that, then I think everyone will be positive about joining.

“We use it almost every day. We have two guys on it, so it goes so fast, so you can just go in and see if we get a player match. If not today, maybe tomorrow.”
