Sport Republic steps up multi-club ownership plans with Mance hire
by Jonathan Rest

Ivan Mance has quit as Technical Director of Pafos FC to join Sport Republic, the investment group that is building a multi-club model, starting with England's Southampton FC.

I decided to accept the proposal of the Sport Republic investors and join their team, where they will award me one of the new projects to help them develop football clubs around the world. I would also like to thank all the amazing people I worked with during my stay in Paphos.

Mance spent the 2021-22 season with Pafos FC as they finished sixth, following his departure from HNK Rijeka in his homeland Croatia, where he had been Sporting Director and only recently signed a new contract.

Mance, a former goalkeeper who ended his playing career with Rijeka in 2013, was linked with a return to Croatia with champions Dinamo Zagreb, but has joined Sport Republic.

In early 2022 Sport Republic, co-founded by Rasmus Ankersen and Henrik Kraft, and bankrolled by Serbian media tycoon Dragan Solak, acquired Southampton FC, with more club takeovers in the pipeline.

Mance's exact role at Sport Republic is not yet known, although he will work closely with Roberto Gagliardi, the former Head of Football Operations at Portsmouth FC, who joined the group earlier this year as Head of Business Development.

Pafos FC Owner Roman Dubov said: "We thank Ivan for the great work and warm treatment. Not only he was a valuable professional, assisting the coach and the squad in many areas, but he also became a part of Pafos family.

"After some consideration, we agreed that we could not be an obstacle for him in his career progression, despite the fact that just a month ago we have extended our cooperation agreement for another two years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Mance added: "I decided to accept the proposal of the Sport Republic investors and join their team, where they will award me one of the new projects to help them develop football clubs around the world. I would also like to thank all the amazing people I worked with during my stay in Pafos."

Watch here as Mance talks through how TransferRoom helped build his squad and grow his own network while Sporting Director of Rijeka.
