German second-tier club Karlsruher SC have dismissed their long-serving Managing Director of Sport, Oliver Kreuzer.
The Supervisory Board of KSC, who sit eighth in 2. Bundesliga, made the unanimous decision to dismiss Kreuzer as part of a review of their long-term strategy that is being impacted by the building of the club's new stadium, which could be opened this year.
In a statement, KSC said: "If the new stadium can be used from this year, it will have a significant impact on economic success. Therefore, now is a good time to review the long-term strategy and adjust the economic plan.
"In particular, the Supervisory Board supports the Advisory Board's objective of increasing the quality of the squad, strengthening youth work, implementing strategic squad planning and thus achieving higher transfer revenues than in the past."
The responsibilities held by Kreuzer will be distributed internally until their Sports Department is reorganised.
Kreuzer, 57, had been the Managing Director of Sport at KSC for six-and-a-half years and it was his second spell at the club after being Sporting Director from 2011 to 2013.
Previously, he was the Sporting Director at TSV 1860 Munich and held similar roles at Hamburger SV, Sturm Graz and RB Salzburg.
