How an agent completed a deal in his first week on TransferRoom
by Jack Hyom

Watch Fredrik Risp, the owner of Scandinavian firm Rispect Sports Agency, explain how he earned a move for his player, Gudmundur Thorarinsson, within days of becoming a TransferRoom Trusted Agent.

Everything was happening within a couple of days. It's a perfect example of how TransferRoom works.

Striking a deal quickly

Agents are often looking to get business done quickly during the height of a Transfer Window as they aim to strike the best deals for their players, but in a hyper-competitive market it can prove very difficult.

But that wasn't the case for Swedish agent Fredrik Risp, who earned a move for Iceland international Gudmundur Thorarinsson within one week of joining TransferRoom as a Trusted Agent.

Looking to solve the problem of "too many actors" in the agency world, Risp, the owner of the Rispect Sports Agency in his native Sweden, joined in the Summer Transfer Window and is now verified as the representative  for the players on his portfolio.

With Thorarinsson, a left-back at Danish club Aalborg BK, seeking a new opportunity, Risp swiftly took advantage of his direct access to decision-makers at more than 700 clubs worldwide through TransferRoom.

He pitched the Icelander to Greek club OFI Crete and within 48 hours the deal was done.

Explaining the move in the video above, Risp said:  "Everything was happening within a couple of days. It's a perfect example of how TransferRoom works.

"When OFI Crete came up as an option, I pitched him to them, and then within the next 24 hours, I had contact with Georgios Samaras, the former player who is now the Vice President of the club."

Opening up new markets

Risp, a former Sweden international who became an agent within months of retiring in 2013, has previously relied on his reputation as a player and his existing network of contacts built up from his playing days.

But new opportunities have been offered by being able to directly reach clubs from all over the world on TransferRoom and it was quickly rewarded. He is now exploring the possibility of moving Scandinavian talents in his portfolio to South America as he aims to open up new markets.

"You can't be controlling all markets in all parts of the world, so in that sense TransferRoom is a really good add-on for us as agents, because we can also pitch our players to new markets where we're normally not that active," Risp says.

"It gives good transparency. The clubs can easily see what kind of players we have.

"South America is an interesting market, where I haven't been that active. I can see that there are many clubs active on the platform from there.

"I'm curious to see if there can be a mutual interest in trying to bring Scandinavian players to South America in the future. Those kinds of things make it interesting to see in what direction it might be heading."
