At good-sized clubs they don't have time. You take their time, so make it worthwhile for them to listen to you. They don't have time to talk to everyone who wants to talk to them. They don't have the time to look at all the pitches being made to them.
Sporting Directors get bombarded with pitches for players from football agents, particularly during the Transfer Window. But how can agents stand out from the crowd?
Gustaf Grauers knows better than most, having been Sporting Director at one of Sweden's top clubs, Hammarby IF, for three years before he moved into the agency world. He is now CEO of his own football agency, the Taldea Advisory Group.
"At good-sized clubs they don't have time," says Grauers. "You take their time, so make it worthwhile for them to listen to you.
"They don't have time to talk to everyone who wants to talk to them. They don't have the time to look at all the pitches being made to them."
In the exclusive video interview below, watch him reveal his top tips for agents when pitching their players to the decision-makers at clubs.
Top tips for Agents pitching to Sporting Directors
Grauers is a TransferRoom Trusted Agent, which helps prevent other agents from poaching his players.
He has expanded his network by directly accessing the global community of decision-makers at more than 650 clubs on TransferRoom.
The platform has also helped Grauers to get deals for his players, including defender Sebastian Ring's transfer to French club Amiens SC, through a new connection made on the platform.
Stand out with the Custom Pitch
TransferRoom also addresses the problem of agents not standing out when pitching players to Sporting Directors.
Innovative agents have abandoned sending generic Transfermarkt links or PDF presentations and are now using a new super tool called Custom Pitch, which allows agents to create, design and send a made-to-measure focused pitch to club decision-makers in as little as 60 seconds.
