Gage quits CPL to head football strategy at new multi-club group
by Jonathan Rest

Oliver Gage has left his role as Director of Football of the Canadian Premier League to lead football strategy at SixFive Sports and Entertainment, a new multi-club ownership group.

I’ve been nothing but encouraged and impressed by Commissioner Mark Noonan‘s thoughts on the game and ambition. I’m sure they will do a great job whether they want to replace me directly or go another direction.
Oliver Gage
Head of Football Strategy, SixFive Sports and Entertainment

SixFive owns Pacific FC in the Canadian Premier League and Vancouver FC, which will debut in the league in 2023, and has plans to grow its operations outside of Canada.

Gage initially joined the CPL as Head of Recruitment and On-Field Analysis, before being promoted in early 2020. He is a former Head of Performance Analysis & Technical Recruitment at MLS' Houston Dynamo.

As CPL Director of Football he launched the international player pool, consisting of players aged 23 and under, from which clubs in the league could recruit.

Gage said of the new venture: “I've been incredibly impressed by the group's vision and ambition and it was an opportunity I simply couldn't turn down."

He added: “I’ve been nothing but encouraged and impressed by Commissioner Mark Noonan‘s thoughts on the game and ambition. I’m sure they will do a great job whether they want to replace me directly or go another direction.”
