Dinamo coach Cacic steps into Sporting Director position

Ante Cacic has been appointed Sporting Director of GNK Dinamo Zagreb, in addition to his Head Coach responsibilities.

I am proud of the fact that we have officially completed this story, even though the position of Sporting Director will not fundamentally change the way our sports sector functions because we have done everything with joint analysis and agreement.

Cacic's contract was due to run until the end of the 2022-23 season, but he has signed a new deal to June 2024 that also includes the Sporting Director position.

It means the former Croatia national team Manager will have more of a direct involvement in recruitment and oversee all sporting operations at the club.

Cacic joined Dinamo in April 2022 with the club promptly winning the title.

He said: "I am proud of the fact that we have officially completed this story, even though the position of Sporting Director will not fundamentally change the way our sports sector functions because we have done everything with joint analysis and agreement. Therefore, I continue to work as before and we are maximally focused on the continuation of the season."

Dinamo presently sit top of the league, ahead of the likes of Rijeka and Gorica, whose Sporting Directors and recruitment departments have found great success on TransferRoom in recent seasons.
