One of the UK’s top football agents says TransferRoom’s network, intelligence and customer support feeds into almost all of his transfer business, while his client, Bristol City's Sinclair Armstrong, says it can help other players achieve success.
I would say my contacts in football are probably second to none. But even so, on TransferRoom within seconds, I could be in touch with markets that I didn't normally travel to, like South America, to the MLS, to Estonia, to Latvia as an example. So TransferRoom gives me all of them. It's involved in nearly every deal.
'The number one thing in football'
David Moss has almost seen it all in his career in the football industry.
He went from Academy Director at Swansea City and when Wilfried Zaha was coming through the ranks at Crystal Palace, to Head of Scouting at Scottish giants Celtic for seven years and Sporting Director in Huddersfield Town’s debut season in the Premier League.
Then he went into the football agency world in 2018 and, after five-and-a-half years as Global Head of Football at First Access Sports, he set up his own Agency, David Moss Group.
His current player portfolio includes Bristol City's Sinclair Armstrong, Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong of Al-Kholood Club in Saudi Arabia, and 16-year-old Shamrock Rovers striker Michael Noonan, who has caught the eye of many top clubs with a breakthrough season in the first team that included scoring in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
But even with his two decades in the game and the vast network he has built up, he faces the same challenge all agents have: building a global network of up-to-date contacts and gaining real-time market intelligence you can trust.
He found the solution for both of those industry challenges through TransferRoom.
TransferRoom is world football’s transfer marketplace, with its online platform used by over 800 clubs and 550 Trusted Agencies, including David Moss Group.
“TransferRoom for me, it's the number one thing in football at the moment,” Moss says in the video below, featuring exclusive interviews with Moss and Sinclair Armstrong on the value being a Trusted Agency and working with a Trusted Agent brings.
“It provides everything, not just for an agent, but what a football club wants, in terms of that vital intelligence that's needed to perform your role. In terms of maybe spending weeks and months trying to get information to meet people, talking to people, you can get it in a matter of seconds and minutes just by logging on to the system and getting that information. It's there in real time.
“TransferRoom is a tool that's invaluable, and it's more or less involved in all the deals, not just saying, right, this player moved because of TransferRoom. It's involved in everything, because of the intelligence it provides me as an agent.
“I would say my contacts in football are probably second to none. The the time I was at Celtic for seven years, I think every week for seven years, I travelled into Europe. But even so, on TransferRoom within seconds, I could be in touch with markets that I didn't normally travel to, like South America, to the MLS, to Estonia, to Latvia as an example. So TransferRoom gives me all of them. It's involved in nearly every deal.”
A key part of the appeal of TransferRoom for Moss is the customer support he receives from staff such as Senior Account Executive Laurence Burton.
“Just from taking out the platform to the ongoing support, Laurence has been invaluable,” Moss adds. “It's like speaking to a club. I've got regular communication. We must speak three, four, five times a week about different things, and how he helps me, and maybe if there's certain things I'm unsure about, or I want to get in contact with.
“Sometimes, as you know, it's not just when you buy a product, it's what the after service is like. And not just Laurence, but everybody I come in contact with at TransferRoom. They're so easy to deal with.”
Helping agents leverage market intelligence
Laurence (pictured above) is responsible for leading TransferRoom’s commercial growth across UK football, growing the portfolio of football club decision-makers and verified agencies using the platform.
“So with someone like David Moss, one of our Trusted Agents, we do work very closely," he says. "I'm in regular communication with him, providing a lot of insights around the transfer trends, the sort of proactive stage ahead of the summer window, guidance around football clubs and international markets.
"Additionally, guiding him across the platform so he's able to leverage opportunities for those players in specific markets, which is ultimately going to leverage a better transfer deal or a better opportunity for that player.
"We're getting to a stage where there's so much business intelligence going through the platform and through the interactions at our TransferRoom exclusive Deal Days that we run, that as a club or as a Trusted Agent, it's becoming very invaluable to their day-to-day work and processes. You absolutely can't miss what's happening on there.”
For 21-year-old striker Armstrong (pictured below), Moss has been there throughout his journey in senior football, starting from making his first-team debut at just 15 years of age for Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland.
Then he moved to Queens Park Rangers in 2020 as a 17-year-old and was a key part of the first team for two seasons before Moss secured him a transfer to fellow English Championship side Bristol City for close to €3million in July 2024.
Working with a Trusted Agent has been invaluable for Armstrong, who encourages professional players to join TransferRoom’s free platform for players and link up with one of the 550+ agencies on the platform to open up better opportunities worldwide.
Armstrong said: “Me being 15, 16, not having a clue about agents. But I had, as I said, my parents were obviously vital in that. And meeting up with David and seeing, you know, what his plan was for me, I was only invested and I took the opportunity to just work with him. He's obviously been a massive help and got me into this position today.
“It's belief, trust, and communication, and your agent having belief in you. Trust, in terms of what he's going to do and knowing that, he has your best interests at heart. And communication, trying to keep that communication level, you know, whether that be every week, having a phone call, text, just keeping in contact with each other, which is very, very important for me.
“If you don't have an agent, I think it's a very good platform to obviously go on and try to find someone. As I said, like, I don't know anybody who's had success alone. You need people along the way to obviously try to help you. So I think it is a good platform to communicate with agents and to try to have the best success story possible.”
