Hear from Oliver Curry as to why LA Galaxy chose to invest in in TransferRoom Scout and the value this will bring to their organisation as they continue building a best in class recruitment operation.
All of our Scouts, all of our front office people in the same place - feels like a no brainer.
Building a world class scouting operation
LA Galaxy is the most decorated club in MLS history, rich in history and perhaps the most well known MLS club globally, surging to international fame with the arrival of David Beckham back in 2007, as well as stars like Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic & Javier Hernandez.
This is a club with a history of winning, with their most recent coming in 2024 as they were crowned MLS Cup champions for a record breaking 6th time. Yet behind the scenes, there has been an ongoing focus on being at the forefront of recruitment and what it takes to build something industry leading.
When Will Kuntz was appointed General Manager in December 2023, he outlined a need for collaboration if they were to be successful.
"How we operate on a daily basis, it's been collaborative. It's not like they're my players or Greg's(Head Coach) players. It's our players, everyone is agreed upon, we all talk about what we need, profile, budget and more."
This sentiment was set out 2 years prior in fact when Greg Vanney rejoined the Galaxy, outlining that they've made a lot of progress in terms of identifying the right profiles of players but needing to rebuild a fully-fledged scouting operation to support this new strategy, including establishing a "centre of excellence for analytics and sports science.".jpeg?width=2000&height=1333&name=download%20(1).jpeg)

And that is part of the challenge.
In the modern game, there is so much readily available data that it's increasingly about how clubs sift through it to find meaningful insights. Couple that with a lack of perfect integrations tools and you get the picture that thousands of clubs face today.
"One major challenge that you always find with scouting is how do you find a way to keep everything centralised, between written, video, shortlists. Having to balance this between the marketplace and some other platforms we are using was a challenge."

They reviewed numerous scouting tools in the market to help them consolidate their operation but struggled to find something that met their expectations, with no outstanding candidate offering the flexibility around reporting, access controls and user experience needed.
TransferRoom Scout, a new brand of scouting solution
In early 2026, after an extensive period of development with key club partners, TransferRoom introduced it's new Scout Management platform, aptly named Scout.
The vision for this new solution was simple.
1. Flexibility of reporting
Build something flexible and versatile enough to support the various ways of working across global recruitment teams.
2. Integrated, not isolated
Too many scouting tools don't connect with other tools effectively which leads to a load of duplicated work and a lack of joined up execution when it comes to time-sensitive opportunities.
3. Depth of coverage
Covering a broad range of players is expected but the granularity of the data per player is what really sets great scouting tools apart.
4. Live transfer market intelligence
This is what really sets TR Scout apart from any other provider. The marketplace feeds real-time market insights into Scout, meaning that you're the first to know when players on your shortlist become available.
This product vision aligned with that of LA Galaxy's, to establish an end to end recruitment operation that brought analytics, insights and the whole scouting organisation together to make better informed recruitment decisions.
"The ability to assign a player immediately - a player becomes available, you assign it directly to a scout and then within an hour, we have the report ready - getting the process moving a lot quicker."

With big moves anticipated for this summer's transfer window, that connected experience is expected to add significant value to the whole function, allowing them to remove duplication of work, scout more efficiently and ultimately move more decisively to secure their top targets.
We caught up with Oliver at the TransferRoom LIVEGlobal: Amsterdam about his experience so far.
"From the first day we got on the platform, there weren't a ton of things that really needed to be clarified for us, such as where to find the shortlist, how to create reports, everything was just a very straight forward process.
If you are a club that is already using the TransferRoom Marketplace and are looking for that platform to connect the two sides of the scouting process - (using TR Scout) feels like a no-brainer."

Clubs from leagues across the globe have already signed up ahead of the summer window.
