All you need to know about the TR Player Rating, how it's calculated, and how you can use it in the transfer market.
Think of it as a quick indicator, available at a glance, that gives a starting point to support decisions.
We’ve developed our unique TR Player Rating to help clubs and agents make a faster initial assessment of a player’s ability when using the TransferRoom platform.
Where is the TR Player Rating seen?
Clubs and agents will see the rating displayed alongside other personalised intelligence when they search for players. Clubs will also see it when they receive new pitch opportunities.
Here's an example of the rating used within the search area of the TransferRoom platform:
How is the TR Player Rating calculated?
Broadly, a player's rating takes into account:
- The quality of the team he plays for
- How regularly he plays
- The standard of competition he plays against
- His individual performance statistics, weighted by the stats most relevant to his position
How often does the TR Player Rating change?
Behind the rating sits a sophisticated algorithm based on billions of data points which is constantly improving using machine learning. The rating will adjust upwards or downwards when there's a significant enough shift in any of the inputs listed above.
Does the Player Rating change depending on who is looking at it?
No, a player’s rating is the same regardless of who is looking. The quality of a player’s current team and their typical level of competition are already taken into account as part of the score. It is designed to be an objective number to allow quick comparison of players across any club or league.
How can clubs and agents use the Player Rating?
Of course, data will never tell the full story and we would never expect a club or agency to base a decision on a single rating. You will have your own opinions about players formed from extensive scouting.
Instead, think of it as a quick indicator, available at a glance, that gives a starting point to support decisions.
