TransferRoom launches dedicated Women’s Marketplace
by TransferRoom

The new platform reflects the changing reality of the women’s game, bringing long-needed visibility, access and opportunity together in one global women’s football marketplace.

The women’s transfer market deserves the same transparency, opportunity and ambition as the men’s game. By launching a women’s football marketplace, TransferRoom is committed to empowering clubs and agencies of all sizes, supporting talent development pathways and contributing to a more open and efficient global transfer market for women’s football.
Jonas Ankersen
Founder and CEO, TransferRoom

The Women's transfer market revolution

In 2021, $1.4million was spent on women’s football transfers. By 2025, that figure had surged to $12.3million.

Players are moving across borders. Headline international transfers are becoming the norm.

But the infrastructure behind the game has lagged behind.

Many clubs still rely on small scouting teams and have limited international networks. Often Head Coaches have to both manage the team and be responsible for recruitment. And understanding who is the verified representative of a player, and how to get direct contact to that Agent, has been very difficult.

Until now.

Building on the success of its platform in men’s football - which was introduced in 2017 and has brought together over 800 clubs and 550 Trusted Agencies from 130 leagues worldwide - TransferRoom’s new Women’s Marketplace will enable clubs, agencies and players to connect directly.

Claire Rafferty, the ex-Chelsea Women’s player and England Lionesses speaking in the video above, is now the driving force behind this new, revolutionary marketplace.

Rafferty said: “When I played, big-money moves didn’t exist for players like me. There was no global market, no visibility and no leverage. In 2018, I was offered my tenth one-year contract in a row - and when I asked about opportunities abroad, there simply weren’t any.  The women’s game hadn’t caught up yet.

“In 2022, I joined TransferRoom, who had already revolutionised the men’s game with its online marketplace, with one ultimate goal: To create a true marketplace for the women’s game.”

Jonas Ankersen, TransferRoom Founder and CEO, said: “The women’s transfer market deserves the same transparency, opportunity and ambition as the men’s game.

“By launching a women’s football marketplace, TransferRoom is committed to empowering clubs and agencies of all sizes, supporting talent development pathways and contributing to a more open and efficient global transfer market for women’s football.”
