Santiago San Roman has left as Sporting Director of Club Necaxa, the Mexican club has announced.
We deeply appreciate the commitment, passion and professionalism that Santiago showed during his tenure at the head of the sports structure of Club Necaxa, highlighting his tireless work in the development of the Necaxa youth academy where he provided important foundations for the future of Mexican soccer.
San Roman (pictured at a TransferRoom Summit) is expected to take on the same role at rival Liga MX club Toluca next month, according to reports in Mexico.
He had been Sporting Director at Necaxa since September 2019.
The Aguascalientes-based club said in a statement: "We deeply appreciate the commitment, passion and professionalism that Santiago showed during his tenure at the head of the sports structure of Club Necaxa, highlighting his tireless work in the development of the Necaxa youth academy where he provided important foundations for the future of Mexican soccer."
Necaxa, like Toluca, have access to TransferRoom through a long-term, league-wide agreement and San Roman used the platform to complete a record transfer for the club.
He Plus-Pitched Jesus Alcantar on TransferRoom, which resulted in a loan move to Sporting in Portugal for the young defender. It represented the first time in the near-100 year history of Necaxa that they had moved a player to Europe.
