'It's important to get all the latest market information'

Rio Ave FC are ready to take their transfer business to the next level under the guidance of a new Technical Director after joining TransferRoom, in a multi-year agreement with football's only marketplace.

Prior to joining the platform, the Portuguese Primeira Liga club appointed João Amaral Pereira (pictured above with TransferRoom's Director of Club Relations) as their new Technical Director.

Amaral started his career with Atalanta BC, and later moved on to be the right-hand of Deco at D20 Sports, the agency that the former FC Barcelona player created and owned up until he left for the Sporting Director role at Camp Nou. D20 Sports represented top players as Raphinha and Edmond Tapsoba.

Together with Global Sporting Director Pedro Albergaria, Amaral Pereira is shaping the squad of Rio Ave, who finished 11th in Portugal's top flight in 2023/24.

They have already secured a host of key signings following the last campaign, such as Borussia Dortmund's Ole Pohlmann and Cezary Miszta from Legia Warszawa, and he says that access to TransferRoom's online platform and global network of decision-makers from more than 800 clubs will be a valuable part of their strategy that can help to accelerate their success in the transfer market.

Amaral Pereira says: “Rio Ave is a club with a massive potential, and we are building an innovative project. We believe that our whole group has an extremely interesting value proposition for players to come and play for us, which some of our recent signings have shown.

"For a club like Rio Ave, it’s important to be aware of everything that happens in the market, and using TransferRoom to get real-time information about the availability, price, agency representation for thousands of players in seconds as well as being able to promote players directly to decision-makers at clubs will help us work as efficiently as possible."

Through TransferRoom, Rio Ave and all the other clubs on the platform gain direct access to over 450 Trusted Agencies, who are verified by their players as their representatives.

Portuguese clubs have had plenty of success on TransferRoom. That includes 2023/24 Primeira Liga champions Sporting Clube de Portugal utilising direct access to Coventry City's decision-makers to help kickstart negotiations for the transfer of Viktor Gyökeres, who joined for club-record €20million and scored 43 goals in a sensational campaign.
