He succeeds Miguel Torrecilla, who left the club towards the end of last year.

Cordero is a former Sporting Director of Granada CF, Cadiz and most recently Tenerife.

Zaragoza, which sit in the lower half of the second division, said in a statement: "With Juan Carlos Cordero, we incorporated into our sports structure a professional with undoubted experience, extensive knowledge of the market and with recognised results in all the projects in which he has been a part of in recent years."

Torrecilla was appointed Sporting Director at Zaragoza in December 2020 after joining from Waasland Beveren in Belgium.
