Spanish second-tier side appoint experienced Sporting Director Mauro Pérez, raised in Tenerife after his father played for the same club.
I am demanding, because of the responsibility I have. For me, CD Tenerife is the best club in the world because it is the one from my land. Within the possibilities of our budget, we must make the most competitive team possible. We must excite our fans. That must be our challenge.
CD Tenerife have appointed Mauro Pérez as their new Sporting Director, bringing him in on a three-year contract.
He fills the vacancy left by the Spanish second-tier club's previous Sporting Director Juan Carlos Cordero, who left for Real Zaragoza in January.
Pérez returns to his home club, having been born in Tenerife when his father, Dalmacio Mauro Pérez Rodríguez, played for the first team in the 1970s.
CD Tenerife's new Sporting Director most recently held the same position at Segunda Division rivals CD Lugo for the 2021-22 season.
Before that, he was in the same position at fellow Spanish side Albacete and has previously been Manager at UD Las Zocas.
"This is probably the best day of my life at a sporting level," Pérez said. "I played in the lower categories of CD Tenerife. Reaching the position of Sporting Director makes me feel happy and proud.
"But I am demanding, because of the responsibility I have. For me, CD Tenerife is the best club in the world because it is the one from my land.
"Within the possibilities of our budget, we must make the most competitive team possible. We must excite our fans. That must be our challenge."
