The loan move of Persis Oteng from RB Leipzig to Molde FK was the first transfer supported by TransferRoom’s Women’s Marketplace, connecting RB Leipzig’s focus on player development with Molde’s squad strengthening after promotion to the Norwegian top tier.
The more clubs that join, the more visibility clubs will have for their players, with both buying and selling clubs being able to better promote their players. This has been the case with the Persis Oteng loan and we look forward to many more opportunities in the future.
A landmark deal for Women's Football
Earlier this year, TransferRoom launched its Women’s Marketplace, creating a dedicated space for clubs and agencies in the women’s game to connect, communicate and complete deals more efficiently than ever before.
To within one month of the platform being live, that vision has already been materialised.
The loan move of Persis Oteng from RB Leipzig to Molde FK earlier in March, became the first transfer supported by TransferRoom’s new Women’s Marketplace - a milestone that highlights the platform’s growing influence across the women’s game.
For RB Leipzig, the priority was clear: ensure Oteng’s continued development in an environment where she could gain consistent minutes. With competition for places limiting her opportunities, the club made a proactive decision to explore a loan move that would accelerate her progress.
At the same time, Molde FK were preparing for life in the Norwegian Toppserien after earning promotion the previous season. Strengthening their squad was essential, and they were actively looking for players who could make an immediate impact while also fitting into their long-term project.
TransferRoom brought those two needs together.
How the deal happened
Viola Odebrecht, Head of Women’s Football at RB Leipzig, explained how the process began:
“We talked to Persis and spoke about how game-time would be limited for her in our team this season. We discussed with her and her agent that there is the option to go on loan to get playing time. We then made her available for loan on TransferRoom's Women's Marketplace."
Once the opportunity was made visible on the platform, Molde quickly identified Oteng as a strong fit.
Erlend Holmlund, Head of Women’s Football at Molde, said:
“Through the TransferRoom platform we saw that Persis could be available for a loan and decided to open up a conversation with RB Leipzig.”
That initial connection was strengthened not only digitally, but also in person.
At TransferRoom’s first Women’s Football Forum event in February at Stamford Bridge, Molde met with CMG Sports, the agency representing Oteng - laying the groundwork for a smoother process.
Holmlund added: “Meeting CMG Sports in London at the first Women’s Football Forum TransferRoom event was useful, as we then already had a connection with them.”
Bradley Rains, Head of Women's Football, of CMG Sports explained how that moment helped drive the move forward:
“We had a meeting with Molde at the Women's Football Forum event in Stamford Bridge, where we were able to discuss our clients in more detail and reinforce Persis as an option that suited the club's immediate needs," he reveals.
"For us as an agency, having that direct access is huge. It allows us to find the right opportunities for our players much more efficiently.
"We're delighted our meeting had a big influence in making the move happen seamlessly and look forward to utilising the events and platform for further opportunities."
With that foundation in place, discussions progressed quickly. Initial conversations between the clubs established the framework of the deal before Molde presented their project directly to the player and her representatives.
“First contact was with Viola Odebrecht to see if it was an option for RB Leipzig to loan out Persis to the Norwegian Toppserien. She was open to it and we discussed a bit more to agree on the outer lines of the deal,” said Holmlund.
After the meeting things moved quickly as we were closing in on the last days of the Norwegian transfer window.
The speed of the deal underlined the efficiency of direct communication:
28 March - Deal agreed
29 March - Player arrives in Molde
30 March - Medical completed
1 April - Makes debut for Molde
For Oteng, the move represents an important step in her career as well as being part of something significant.
"It’s a really special feeling to be the first signing through the Women’s Marketplace," she said.
"It makes me proud to be part of something new that’s pushing the women’s game forward.
"I believe this move will help me take an important next step in my career."
For both clubs, TransferRoom played a crucial role in simplifying what can often be a complex process. Odebrecht highlighted how the platform helped bridge an information gap:
“Previously, our structure did not have the information that a club in Norway wants to have a striker. So TransferRoom helped both sides to know the details and to proceed,” she said.
“It’s much, much easier to connect now and know which kind of players other clubs in Europe and across the world need.”

Beyond this single deal, both clubs see long-term value in the Women’s Marketplace. Holmlund believes it will change how clubs approach recruitment:
“TransferRoom's Women's Marketplace allows us to be even better prepared for the transfer windows and makes the process of accessing decision-makers at clubs much easier,” he said.
"The more clubs that join, the more visibility clubs will have for their players, with both buying and selling clubs being able to better promote their players.
"This has been the case with Persis and we look forward to many more opportunities in the future."
Oteng also highlighted the broader impact the platform can have on the women’s game:
“Knowing that this move happened through a platform designed to create more opportunities for female players makes it even more meaningful," she explains.
"I hope it’s just the beginning and that many more players can benefit from it in the future.”
By enabling direct communication, TransferRoom's Women's Marketplace is increasing visibility for players and connecting decision-makers faster, the platform is already unlocking opportunities across the women’s game.
And if this first deal is anything to go by, it’s only the beginning.
