Head of Women's Football, Marco Zwingauer, outlines why the Italian side are the latest club to join TransferRoom’s Women’s Marketplace platform to streamline operations and build long-term sustainability.
My message is to embrace this platform without hesitation. The women's transfer market is evolving rapidly, and having access to a tool that facilitates direct global connections is essential for saving time, optimising resources, and staying competitive in a fast-growing industry.
Strategic investment with high Serie A Women ambitions
Parma Calcio 1913 are one of the many clubs across the world to have officially joined TransferRoom Women’s Marketplace, reinforcing the club’s commitment to building a competitive, sustainable women's football project in Italy.
Backed by visionary American ownership, Parma are actively investing significant resources into the expansion of their women’s division.
For Head of Women's Football Marco Zwingauer, the immediate goal is clear: consolidate their place in Serie A Women while building toward the top end of the table.
"Our strategy focuses on identifying and developing promising young talent scouted from all over the world, while integrating experienced, established players who have a strong desire for redemption and are eager to help elevate the club," said Zwingauer.
To support this player recruitment strategy, Parma identified TransferRoom’s new Women’s Marketplace as a vital asset to enhance scouting efficiency and broaden their global transfer network.
Beyond day-to-day efficiency, Zwingauer highlights how TransferRoom Women's Marketplace helps solve broader structural challenges facing the evolving women's game.
"It solves the challenge of actually creating a structured transfer market, which is something that has only emerged very recently in women's football," he noted.
"Player trading used to be an unthinkable revenue stream for a women's department or an independent women's football club. Today, however, there are clubs that manage to break even and balance their operating costs solely through their transfer market movements.
"Currently, at least in Italy, we are seeing a sharp increase in costs that is not yet matched by a sufficient rise in revenues to guarantee long-term sustainability," Zwingauer said. "It remains a very fragile sector that, particularly in Italy, still has to fight against cultural stereotypes which objectively slow down its growth."
Why should clubs join TransferRoom Women's Marketplace?
For executives considering taking the step onto the platform, Zwingauer offers clear advice:
"My message is to embrace this platform without hesitation," he says.
"The women's transfer market is evolving rapidly, and having access to a tool that facilitates direct global connections is essential for saving time, optimising resources, and staying competitive in a fast-growing industry."
