Belgian champions, who reached the Champions League Round of 16 in 2024/25, have joined football’s only transfer marketplace. Director of Football Dévy Rigaux explains why.
The biggest benefits of TransferRoom are in the way that it connects people, stakeholders, decision-makers from the world of football, and you're sure that you are speaking to the right one. Secondly, it speeds up the process to connect to people and to get to know the right information regarding some transfer cases.
Belgian champions arrive on TransferRoom
Club Brugge have been one of the success stories in European football in recent years.
They have reached the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 twice in the last three seasons, culminating in a stunning 5-2 aggregate win over Italy’s Atalanta BC in the knockout play-off round. And they reached the semi-final of the UEFA Conference League in 2023/24.
This has coincided with four Belgian Pro League titles in five years, making it their most successful period since they reached two major European finals and won three straight league titles in the mid to late 1970s.
That success has been down to an innovative approach in the transfer market and the wider club operations since gaining new ownership in 2011.
Now they are able to elevate their position as pioneers and leaders in Belgian football even further with the help of TransferRoom.
They have now joined world football’s only transfer marketplace. They gain direct access to the decision-makers at over 800 clubs and 550 verified Trusted Agencies on TransferRoom’s online platform, in which they also benefit from real-time market intelligence such as clubs’ requirements, player availability and comprehensive player, squad and Head Coach data.
TransferRoom also hosts Summits at key locations every year, with the latest held in Berlin & Online in March 2025, where over 380 clubs and 60 agencies held one-to-one meetings and networked over the space of three days.
Director of Football Dévy Rigaux, who has worked his way up from youth coaching and being a translator to being the man responsible for their transfer strategy, has been a pivotal figure in Club Brugge’s rise, and he explains why TransferRoom will bring many benefits.
“TransferRoom brings decision-makers together in football, where you can easily get access to all information regarding players, their agents, and their clubs," says Rigaux in the video interview below. "It's also a way of understanding how the clubs open up their transfer business for the summer.
“The TransferRoom Summits bring people together for a few days in a part of the world where you can easily exchange information. You can also accelerate cases that you would like to speed up with certain stakeholders. It also provided us with a lot of information regarding the transfer strategy of certain clubs and stakeholders.
“With the platform we are able to get a lot of information in a few clicks and information that sometimes is not directly available by calling others or by just reading on the internet.
“The biggest benefits of TransferRoom are in the way that it connects people, stakeholders, decision-makers from the world of football, and you're sure that you are speaking to the right one. Secondly, it speeds up the process to connect to people and to get to know the right information regarding some transfer cases.
“It also provides a lot of extras in the world of football, like you can organise friendly games with your club through the system. For us as a club it's important to be proactive, and it helps that we can reach out to people and to show that we are interested in certain clients, whether it's an agent or a club.”
In our full interview with Rigaux, he discusses his journey to the Director of Football role, the keys to Club Brugge’s recent success, how the club develops players and coaches, and how he works with Head Coach Nicky Hayen, who has masterminded their Champions League run this season after being promoted from Head Coach of their Academy side to the senior role in 2024.
“Our main goal is always to be the number one in Belgian football, be the one that fights to become champion. We understand that our position first of all needs to be that strong in Belgian competition. Then we can have more impact on our European position.
“So when we become champions in Belgian competition, we are of course at this moment one of the clubs that can participate in the Champions League… When we are the strongest in Belgium, it gives us the possibility to play at the highest tournament in European football, and then in Europe we can continue to be competitive.
“And if we do it with a clear strategy with a good recruitment and a good pathway from the youth to the first team with our own players, I think this is what Club Brugge stands for."
