Turkey's Galatasaray SK have looked to solve the difficulty of finding reliable market intelligence by getting direct access to a global network of club decision-makers on TransferRoom.
We see TransferRoom as a facilitator in communication and providing a direct flow of information. The ability to advertise our needs, share ideas and understand other clubs' thoughts always plays a huge role in the transfer market. We expect TransferRoom to support us in these transfer situations.
Transfer information to rely on
With intermediaries regularly offering players that are either not required by clubs or, even worse, who they don’t even have the right to represent, it can be difficult for Sporting Directors to trust the information they receive.
“The transfer market is an enormous gathering of people and institutions, where a lot of parties have to be in sync to obtain the ideal results. As a result, the challenges we face are often momentary lapses of communication and a lack of a common ground for exchanging ideas and opportunities,” explains Cenk Ergun, Director of Football at Galatasaray, the most successful club in Turkish Süper Lig history.
That added layer of complexity can see deals fall through at late notice: a waste of time and resources for clubs on both sides of the transfer.
It is why, in a bid to get transfer market information directly from the source, Galatasaray and Ergun (pictured below) have turned to TransferRoom.
Ergun, who took on the role in June 2022, says: “We see TransferRoom as a facilitator in communication and providing a direct flow of information. The ability to advertise our needs, share ideas and understand other clubs’ thoughts always plays a huge role in the transfer market.
“We expect TransferRoom to support us in these transfer situations where swift and instantaneous communication is needed.”
Promoting talents on the global stage
Ergun is in his second spell as Director of Football at Galatasaray, having held the same role between 2015 and 2018.
He first joined the Istanbul giants in 2006 in an academy and player development role, and believes being part of a community of more than 650 clubs in over 60 countries will provide multiple career opportunities for Galatasaray’s academy graduates.
“Marketing yourself is essential for all top clubs and of course Galatasaray is no exception,” Ergun continues. “In this case, we wish to show to the football world our players’ true value and their capabilities in achieving even higher career points.
“The recognition of our young talents is key and we consider TransferRoom as a resourceful tool for this purpose.”
