Finding trustworthy, reliable information

Having success in the transfer market is not only about who you know but what you know and getting the right information at the right time. 

But too often, clubs have had to rely on second-hand information from intermediaries and unreliable transfer market speculation to find out where the opportunities for deals are.

And even then, it's hard to know when a player is available and what a buying or selling club's financial needs and demands are.

French club FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have been limited by a lack of transparency and reliable market information, but they have now changed all that.

The Ligue 2 side have joined TransferRoom, meaning they get direct access to decision makers at more than 650 clubs in over 100 leagues globally. 

They also get real-time access to player availability and club requirements in the transfer market, so they can either recruit players who suit their needs or pitch their own talents to clubs looking for someone in that specific position and are at the on-pitch and financial level to make it a perfect match.

Understanding what clubs need

The direct access to decision makers at clubs is another key benefit for Yang and the Sochaux recruitment team. Joining TransferRoom means they no longer need to go through third parties to strike a deal, and all agents on the platform are Trusted Agents, meaning they are verified as the representative of their players.

"A lack of transparency in the transfer market is a key reason why we're now on the platform,” Yang adds. “Through TransferRoom we can deal directly with club executives and Trusted Agents and know what they're looking for without having to go through third parties. I am confident this will help us unlock new opportunities and do smarter transfer business."

Yang, pictured above, was speaking at a TransferRoom Summit, where he could connect with executives from in excess of 330 clubs face to face, and that combined with the access to clubs worldwide is opening up a world of opportunities for the French club.

"We are looking to target clubs and countries that we don't know well yet, such as those in Eastern and Northern Europe, and teams in the United States,” he says. “The global network accessible through TransferRoom's platform and in-person Summits opens the door to those markets."
