Global connections adding big value for Mexican clubs on TransferRoom
by Jack Hyom

Key decision makers at Mazatlán FC in Liga MX and Liga Expansion’s CF Atlante explain how they can get deals done quickly all over the world through a league-wide agreement to gain access to TransferRoom.

We have really seen the value added by the platform, in terms of all the connections you can make and the volume of players there are around the world. You are making something easy that used to be complicated for clubs.
Luis César
Chief Scout, Mazatlán FC

It can be very difficult to navigate the fiercely competitive global transfer market and make trusted connections with the right decision makers.

And it can be equally challenging to source reliable intelligence on player availability and what clubs are looking for, with so much third-party information and so many social media rumours at the height of a transfer window.

But all the clubs in Liga MX and Liga Expansion, the top two divisions of Mexican football, have found a way to cut through the noise. And to gain direct access to the right decision makers, verified agents, clubs’ player availability and market needs.

That’s through their league-wide deal with TransferRoom.

Every Liga MX and Liga Expansion club gets access to the platform, which is host to more than 700 clubs from over 100 leagues worldwide.

Making the transfer market easy

That combined with attending TransferRoom Summits - in-person and online events held in key locations a few times a year to bring 100s of decision makers together - makes a previously complex problem straightforward.

Luis César, the Chief Scout at Mazatlán FC, said in the video below, filmed at the TransferRoom Summit in São Paulo: “We have really seen the value added by the platform, in terms of all the connections you can make and the volume of players there are around the world.

“You are making something easy that used to be complicated for clubs.

“To connect with somebody over in China, Japan, Ukraine, or different countries that we hadn't met or seen. Now it is easy just to send a message, share a contact or talk about a player.”

Mazatlán mainly use the TransferRoom platform to identify target signings and to respond to clubs’ ads for a player available for transfer or loan.

One of the most active clubs on the platform in Mexico are placed in the level below, Liga Expansion. That’s CF Atlante.

It’s given Atlante greater visibility for their talents and to loan players to Liga MX, showing TransferRoom’s ability to drive business in both the domestic and international markets.

Emilio Escalante, the President of CF Atlante, said in the video below while at the TransferRoom Summit in Brazil: “I believe that the platform and the development that TransferRoom is doing is very important because it’s a direct access to clubs and with the decision makers.

“Nowadays, despite the fact that CF Atlante is in the Liga Expansion, we aim to be in Liga MX in about a year.

“We have outplaced 12 players to Liga MX over the past three years, which makes us the top supplier of players to the league and we know that this tool will give us more.

“This is a big window for us to promote our players, but also for us to recruit players. So, the synergy alongside the work we do on the platform, it’s getting more and more interesting everyday and it gives us very positive results.”

How to sign a Premier League striker

An example of how access to world football’s digital marketplace has led to transfer market success is the story of Atlético de San Luis.

The Mexican top-flight side used TransferRoom to sign a Premier League striker and Bundesliga midfielder, bringing in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Léo Bonatini and VfB Stuttgart’s Mateo Klimowicz.
