For a limited time only, and with the European summer transfer window still open, TransferRoom is making its Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) Calculator available for free.
Decision-makers at clubs do not have time to waste on deals that won’t be permitted, and making these calculations for all potential targets is complex and time consuming. The GBE Calculator provides fast and clear guidance to our members, for over 90,000 players in our database.
Making transfers add up
The GBE Calculator provides real-time information about the status of individual players in relation to the UK’s new points-based immigration system.
It is not only for British clubs looking to make signings, but also foreign clubs assessing the market for their players.
In fact clubs, agents and players can all use the tool to get an indication of whether a deal is worth pursuing.
The GBE Calculator provides instant insights into a player's eligibility to work in the UK. The database contains detailed records on over 90,000 players worldwide, and categorises them under the following outcomes:
-
Auto Pass - Based on international appearances
-
Pass - 15+ points
-
Exceptions Panel - 10-14 points
-
Fail - Less than 10 points

The GBE Calculator also enables you to drill-down into the detail, providing a step-by-step breakdown into the English FA’s latest Points Based System.
This includes detailed information on each of the 5 categories in which a player can gain points, including their international, domestic and continental appearances, as well as attributes relating to their current and previous clubs.
This report is generated automatically based on player and match data in TransferRoom's databases, as well as the current date and the next (or current) UK transfer window. Points are calculated based on the latest rules published on the FA website.
Earlier this summer, the FA tweaked its GBE criteria, with the Danish Superliga moving from Band 5 to Band 4, while the Swedish Allsvenskan and Norwegian Eliteserien go from Band 6 to Band 5, making it just that little bit easier for English clubs to recruit from those leagues.
The ‘Exceptions Panel’ category where a player scores between 10 and 14 points - not enough for a pass but enough to warrant a review of the evidence by the FA and try to get a visa - was due to be scrapped after the January 2021 Winter transfer window, but has now been extended through Summer 2021.
