Ross Wilson has left Scottish giants Rangers to take on the role of Chief Football Officer at Premier League club Nottingham Forest, after they dismissed Sporting Director Filippo Giraldi.
I would like sincerely to thank Ross for his enormous contribution to the development of Rangers both on and off the pitch. While we have enjoyed silverware and excellent European progress during his time, his legacy will be the development of the Rangers Training Centre into a top-class environment, and the integration and success of our women’s programme.
Wilson (pictured at a TransferRoom Summit) had been Sporting Director at Rangers for three-and-a-half years, during which time the club won their first league title in 10 years, their first Scottish Cup in 13 years and reached UEFA Europa League final.
Under his guidance, Rangers' transfer fee record was also broken twice with the sales of Nathan Patterson (to Everton) and Calvin Bassey (Ajax).
Before joining Rangers, Wilson was Director of Football at Southampton and Huddersfield Town.
He is a long-term TransferRoom user, talking through his success on the platform in this exclusive interview.
John Bennett, Chairman of Rangers, said: "I would like sincerely to thank Ross for his enormous contribution to the development of Rangers both on and off the pitch.
"While we have enjoyed silverware and excellent European progress during his time, his legacy will be the development of the Rangers Training Centre into a top-class environment, and the integration and success of our women’s programme."
Wilson joins Forest after Giraldi was dismissed as Sporting Director following just six months at the club.
The Italian executive signed six players during his time, but the club find themselves in the relegation zone.
Before Forest, Giraldi spent nine years at Watford, first as Chief Scout from 2012 and then as Technical Director from 2014.
