Finnish clubs to showcase talent worldwide with TransferRoom league deal
by Jack Hyom

All 12 clubs in Finland’s top division, the Veikkausliiga, now have access to world football’s transfer marketplace through league-wide agreement.

We want to be a ‘Big in the whole of Europe’ market, and in Scandinavia, and that's why this is very important to us. Everyone is on TransferRoom now. We want to see the people. We want to see the clubs.
Tomi Erola
CEO, Kuopion Palloseura

Fuelling Finland's mission to maximise interest in players

Finland’s top football league, the Veikkausliiga, has now opened up the global transfer market like never before, after making an agreement with TransferRoom.

All 12 top-flight clubs in Finland now gain access to TransferRoom, world football’s transfer marketplace.

Each club can now directly contact the decision-makers at over 800 clubs and 550 agencies on the TransferRoom platform, and they can ensure they always get the latest, most reliable contacts for transfer negotiations.

On top of that, they get access to clubs’ requirements in the transfer market, player availability, the player profiles clubs are looking for, and a wealth of real-time market intelligence and player, squad and Head Coach data.

This will all help to fuel the Veikkausliiga’s mission to increase the transfer fees their clubs sell players for, with this new level of global market access ensuring they can showcase their talents on a global scale, drive more interest and maximise that interest.

TransferRoom, launched in 2017 by CEO and Founder Jonas Ankersen, also hosts numerous events at key locations around the world every year. The latest TransferRoom Summit, held in Berlin for two days and online for one day in March 2025, brought together over 380 clubs and 60 agencies for one-to-one meetings, transfer talks and exclusive networking.

Four of the Finnish Veikkausliiga clubs were in attendance: reigning champions Kuopion Palloseura (known as KuPS), FC Inter Turku, FF Jaro and IF Gnistan.

And they explained in the video below why TransferRoom’s online platform and in-person events are a game-changer for Finnish football.

Why Finnish clubs are on TransferRoom

We want to be a ‘Big in the whole of Europe’ market, and in Scandinavia, and that's why this is very important to us. Everyone is on TransferRoom now. We want to see the people. We want to see the clubs.”

Tomi Erola, CEO, Kuopion Palloseura

“There's two things that we get from TransferRoom in particular. It’s to find better players. We have a broader scale to look for players, and of course then we can offer our own interesting players. It's good that we have a platform together with all the clubs, that we can also share information there. In that sense it can highlight the league a little bit more than in the past.”
Lauri Kemppainen, Administrative Director, FC Inter Turku

“What we get from TransferRoom is that we see the price level of players coming in and going out. It's easier for us to see our players. This is a really good platform also to sell players, which from Finland's side, it's really hard to get players out from Finland. So this is a really good way to fix it.”
Fredrik Haga, Sporting Director, FF Jaro

“We want to sell players and of course we can see the players who are available. Let's say it's easier through that. We haven't been that good at selling players. I think that's maybe the biggest thing that it is helping us in. Also to network here, that's a big, big thing for us.”
Jarkko Jokiranta, Sporting Director, IF Gnistan.

Already making an impact

Six Finnish clubs had already been members of TransferRoom prior to the league deal being confirmed, and they have already seen a big impact and used the platform to help with numerous successful transfers.

For champions KuPS, they became the first VIP members of TransferRoom from Finland and TransferRoom has played a part in more than 10 player moves.

That includes two loan signings from the 2025 Winter Transfer Window, Agon Sadiku and Dion Krasniqi. The former, who joined from Dutch side FC Emmen, has produced four goal involvements in eight matches up front. They also moved out Jonathan Muzinga to Finnish second-tier side FC Lahti.

Their most notable signing through TransferRoom has arguably been centre-back Collins Sichenje, who was one of their star performers when he signed on loan from AIK Fotboll in Sweden’s top league for the 2023 season, and it led to percentage of the sell-on fee for KuPS when AIK transferred the player to FK Vojvodina in 2024.

Inter Turku have also made key signings with the help of TransferRoom over the Summer 2024 and Winter 2025 windows.

In January 2025, they signed Loic Essomba after his 4FC Sports Agency pitched him on TransferRoom, and then Inter recruited fellow forward Momodou Sarr in April, just a couple of weeks after meeting the decision-makers at Denmark’s Kolding IF at the TransferRoom Summit in Berlin. The pair have five goal involvements between them in six appearances each this season.

And last summer, Inter’s now starting centre-back, Bart Straalman, was signed from MFK Vyškov in Czech Republic through TransferRoom.

The 2025 Winter Window has been the first for FF Jaro and IF Gnistan on the platform, with newly-promoted side Jaro signing centre-back Erik Gunnarsson, who has played every minute of this league campaign so far, while IF Gnistan laid the groundwork for future deals and partnerships internationally.
