Head of Football and former Netherlands international goalscoring record-holder, Manon Melis, explains why the Dutch side are the latest club to join TransferRoom’s Women’s Marketplace platform.
TransferRoom’s Women’s Marketplace will accelerate the growth and professionalisation of women’s football globally. By making the market more connected and transparent, clubs of all sizes will have more equal access to opportunities.
Rapid growth with a clear long-term vision
Feyenoord Women have joined the TransferRoom Women’s Marketplace, reinforcing the club’s ambition to continue building one of the most progressive women’s football projects in the Netherlands.
Despite only launching their women’s first team five years ago, Feyenoord have already established themselves as one of the Vrouwen Eredivisie’s rising forces.
This season, the club remain in contention for a top-three finish - a reflection of the rapid progress made both on and off the pitch.
For Head of Football Manon Melis, the club’s development is rooted in a clear strategy focused on sustainable growth and long-term professionalism.
“Considering we only started with our women’s first team five years ago, we are very proud of the progress we have made in a relatively short period of time,” she said.
“Over the past years, we have taken important steps both on and off the pitch, improving our organisation, increasing the budget and creating a clear football vision.
“This season, we are still competing for a top-three finish, which shows the growth and ambition of the club.
“Looking ahead, our vision is to continue building in a sustainable and professional way.”
As part of that ambition, Feyenoord identified TransferRoom’s new Women’s Marketplace as an important tool to strengthen the club’s international network and improve efficiency within the transfer market.
“We decided to join TransferRoom because we see the platform as a professional and efficient way to connect with clubs worldwide,” said Melis.
“In the women’s game, networking and access to the right contacts are still very important.”
The women’s transfer market continues to evolve rapidly, but many clubs still face challenges around visibility, transparency and access to opportunities.
For Melis, the former all-time record goalscorer for the Netherlands, this is where the Women’s Marketplace can have an immediate impact.
“One of the biggest challenges in the women’s transfer market is the lack of visibility and direct access between clubs,” she explained.
“Compared to the men’s game, information and opportunities are often more fragmented.
“TransferRoom helps solve this by bringing clubs together in one trusted marketplace, making it easier to identify talent, discuss opportunities quickly, and create more transparency in the market.”
Looking ahead, Melis sees platforms like TransferRoom playing a significant role in accelerating the growth of women’s football globally.
“I believe it will accelerate the growth and professionalisation of women’s football globally,” she said.
“By making the market more connected and transparent, clubs of all sizes will have more equal access to opportunities.”
That emphasis on relationship-building was further reinforced during Feyenoord’s recent attendance at TransferRoom’s Women’s Football Forum at Stamford Bridge in February.
“It was a very valuable and interesting experience,” said Melis.

“During the day, I made many new contacts and connections that I was able to follow up on and work with immediately afterwards.
“Bringing together people from different clubs created a great environment to exchange ideas and build relationships.
“For us, that makes events like this super valuable.”
And for clubs still considering joining the Women’s Marketplace, her message is simple:
“I would definitely encourage clubs to explore it.
“The women’s game is growing and platforms like TransferRoom help clubs stay connected and competitive in an evolving market.
“It’s not only about transfers, it’s also about building relationships.”
