Sporting Director Juan José Luque and Club Sporting Cristal have decided to part ways after the Peruvian club just missed out on winning the championship.
Club Sporting Cristal confirms that we have reached an agreement with Juan José Luque to end his employment relationship with our institution. We thank him for the services he has provided as Sporting Director and we wish him the best of success in his future.
Luque has joined head coach Roberto Mosquera in leaving the club after the Lima-based club lost in the play-off semi-finals. City rivals Alianza Lima won the title.
The Spaniard had been Sporting Director of Cristal since January 2020. He had previously worked in the youth set up at Barcelona, and was one of the first hires of Cristal's new owners Innova Sports.
The club said in a statement: "Club Sporting Cristal confirms that we have reached an agreement with Juan José Luque to end his employment relationship with our institution. We thank him for the services he has provided as Sporting Director since January 2020 and we wish him the best of success in his future."
Sporting Cristal joined the TransferRoom platform in 2022 and took advantage of the Plus Pitch tool to complete a loan transfer in record time.
