Athletic Club have appointed their former player and La Cantera academy product, Eneko Bóveda, to the player development and loan department.
The department led by Mikel González acquires a professional who will help develop an important area of the club in the detection and monitoring of players.
Bóveda will have multiple responsibilities at the Spanish club, acting as a scout, coach for the Under-23s and with their loan players.
The 33-year-old will work closely with Mikel Gonzalez, Director of the Sports Development and Loan Department.
The club said in a statement: "The department led by Mikel González acquires a professional who will help develop an important area of the club in the detection and monitoring of players."
Bóveda started his career at La Cantera, Bilbao's famed youth academy, and had two spells with the club as a player. He also played for Eibar and Deportivo La Coruna in Spain, before finishing his career with Olympiakos Nicosia in Cyprus last season.
Athletic Club recently joined TransferRoom, and as a key member of the Sports Development and Loan Department, Bóveda will be using the platform to source loan destinations for their U23s or to find permanent solutions for those players who will not make the first team.
Gonzalez said: "We know the TransferRoom platform can open doors to foreign markets to make the Athletic Club brand known and to collaborate in the loan or sale of our players."
