Matthias Imhof has joined German club SV Sandhausen from Austria Klagenfurt, following their relegation from 2. Bundesliga this month.
Matthias Imhof will reorganise many structures and processes on a sporting level in order to lead our club into a positive future. His expertise and what he has achieved in Klagenfurt fit perfectly with our structure and our values.
The 55-year-old arrives after overseeing Klagenfurt's sixth-place finish in the Austrian Bundesliga this season, qualifying them for the Championship playoffs.
He had been at Klagenfurt since September 2020, playing in a key role in their promotion from Austria's second tier and two consecutive top-six finishes. He had a previous spell as 1860 Munich's Academy Manager.
Sandhausen have just finished bottom of Germany's second tier, meaning they drop to 3. Bundesliga, a division which has a league-wide agreement for every club to gain access to TransferRoom.
"Matthias Imhof will reorganise many structures and processes on a sporting level in order to lead our club into a positive future," SVS President Jürgen Machmeier said.
"His expertise and what he has achieved in Klagenfurt fit perfectly with our structure and our values.
"The President thanks those responsible at Austria Klagenfurt for the early termination of the contract, which was originally valid until the end of June, so that Imhof can already pursue his duties at Hardtwald as Sporting Director of SV Sandhausen in June."
