Mexican club Mazatlán FC have a new Sporting Director, after hiring Carlos Vela from Liga MX rivals CF Monterrey.
This is a young franchise, a franchise with a great desire to grow, with a very interesting medium and long-term sports project. I felt that it was a good opportunity for a different challenge in my professional career.
Vela (pictured left with General Manager Mauricio Lanz) spent 12 years at Monterrey, holding different positions in the institution, the last being Sporting Director.
Mazatlán FC recently appointed Rubén Omar Romano as Technical Director.
Vela said: "This is a young franchise, a franchise with a great desire to grow, with a very interesting medium and long-term sports project. I felt that it was a good opportunity for a different challenge in my professional career."
Mazatlán FC have made changes to the football department after a bad start to the 2023 Liga MX Clausura where they sit bottom of the table.
All clubs in Mexico's top two divisions have access to TransferRoom as part of a long-term, league-wide agreement, which has resulted in a host of success stories, most recently for Atlético de San Luis.
