Expected Transfer Value (xTV)
Uncovering the next generation of German stars with xTV
by Jonathan Rest

Florian Wirtz, the Bayer Leverkusen sensation, is the most valuable young player in German football, TransferRoom can reveal.

Wirtz’s supreme talent is highlighted by the fact that even with age restrictions removed, he is the third most valuable German player, behind Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, and fourth in the Bundesliga, which is topped by Norway and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling-Braut Haaland.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who made his full Germany debut in September, has the highest Expected Transfer Value (xTV) for any player aged under 21.

Wirtz is valued at €66.9m, towards the higher end of TransferRoom’s €50-75m xTV range, ahead of fellow 18-year-old Jamal Musiala, of Bayern Munich, who has an xTV of €43.9m.

Marton Dardai of Hertha BSC, whose Sporting Director Arne Friedrich spoke at the recent TransferRoom Virtual Summit, and Tom Krauß, one of the standout players in the RB Leipzig Career Center, who is currently on loan at FC Nurnberg in the 2. Bundesliga, both appear in the Top 10 of German U21 players, valued at €6.5m and €5.4m, respectively.

Wirtz and Musiala also feature in the top three U21 players in the Bundesliga of all nationalities, with the two German internationals split by Jude Bellingham, the Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder, who is in the same range value as Wirtz but with a lower xTV of €60m.

Wirtz’s supreme talent is highlighted by the fact that even with age restrictions removed, he is the third most valuable German player, behind Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, and fourth in the Bundesliga, which is topped by Norway and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling-Braut Haaland (€135m).

TransferRoom’s team of executives and analysts created xTV to provide a real-time reliable assessment of the value of more than 75,000 players worldwide.
