Emir Hadzic is back as Sporting Director of FK Sarajevo, the Bosnian club has announced.
The Board of Directors of FK Sarajevo considers the appointment of Mr Hadzic the best option, given that he is a person who knows the situation in the club well and who has already proven that he is able to improve the sports segment of the club.
Hadzic was previously Sporting Director of FK Sarajevo between May 2018 and April 2021, during which time the club won two league titles and one domestic cup. He was also played for the club in the 2012-13 season.
He was dismissed from the role when the new ownership group, led by Malaysian businessman Vincent Tan and United States-based Ismir Mirvic, took over the club, but has now been re-installed following a disappointing season for FK Sarajevo.
A statement on the club's website read: "The Board of Directors of FK Sarajevo considers the appointment of Mr Hadzic the best option, given that he is a person who knows the situation in the club well and who has already proven that he is able to improve the sports segment of the club."
FK Sarajevo have missed out on European competition for the 2022-23 season, having finished fourth in the league and lost the Bosnian Cup final.
The sporting structure was being overseen by experienced Sporting Director Ivan Kepcija, who was acting as an Advisor to Mirvic, the FK Sarajevo President.
FK Sarajevo are new to TransferRoom, and Mirvic said recently that the platform will help the club in "establishing that pipeline to be able to sell directly".
He added: "TransferRoom will give us access to the ultimate buyer, not all these intermediaries that come to you with a different proposal. That is where you lose money."
