Chelsea seek new Sporting Director after Granovskaia exit
by Jack Hyom

Chelsea FC are looking for a new full-time Sporting Director after parting company with long-serving Director Marina Granovskaia, one of the most respected transfer executives in world football.

We thank Marina for her many years of excellent service to the Club and wish her all the best in her future ventures.
Todd Boehly
Owner & Chairman, Chelsea FC

Co-controlling owner Todd Boehly, who has also been named chairman, will be the interim Sporting Director until a permanent successor is confirmed. Boehly and Clearlake Capital Group completed their takeover of the club at the end of May.

Granovskaia leaves the five-time Premier League champions, who finished third last season, after leading on transfer business on behalf of former owner Roman Abramavich since 2010.

She has agreed to remain available to support Boehly and the club for the rest of this Summer Transfer Window.

"We thank Marina for her many years of excellent service to the Club and wish her all the best in her future ventures," Boehly said.

The news comes after the announcement that Bruce Buck will step down from his role as Chairman on 30 June. Buck had been in the role since 2003, seeing the first team win 18 major trophies, and will continue to support the club as a Senior Advisor.

"Bruce has led Chelsea Football Club to the highest levels of international and domestic football, while also developing one of the most active social responsibility projects in sport," Boehly said. "We thank Bruce for his service and his commitment to the Club."

The two departures are part of a reshuffle that has coincided with Chelsea naming their new Board Members, following the completion of the takeover by Boehly and Clearlake Capital Group at the end of May. The Board includes Mark Walter, the co-owner of NBA team Los Angeles Lakers along with Boehly.

On the leadership changes, Boehly said: "As custodians of Chelsea FC, we now begin executing our long-term vision and plan for the Club, creating an outstanding experience for its passionate, loyal fans, and continuing to challenge for top honours in line with Chelsea FC’s decorated history.

"Working together, side-by-side, we are firmly committed to winning, both on and off the pitch. For us, that effort has begun."
