Bournemouth scout Howe to join Uncle Eddie at Newcastle
by Jonathan Rest

Andy Howe is to join the scouting department at Newcastle United, teaming up once again with his uncle Eddie, the Premier League club's manager.

After an amazing 10 years within Bournemouth’s recruitment department, I’ve decided it’s time for my next challenge. The 10 years have flown by but what a 10 years it has been. The journey has been incredible and like everyone else I’m proud to have played a part in that journey.

Howe (pictured), most recently head of first-team UK player scouting at AFC Bournemouth, will work under Steve Nickson, the Head of Recruitment, at Newcastle.

He joined Bournemouth, where Eddie managed until 2020, in 2013 having previously been a first team scout at Burnley and Plymouth Argyle.

Newcastle are hoping to appoint a new Director of Football and a CEO in the coming weeks as part of an overhaul of the club since coming under Saudi Arabian ownership.

Explaining his Bournemouth exit, Howe said: “After an amazing 10 years within Bournemouth’s recruitment department, I’ve decided it’s time for my next challenge.

“The 10 years have flown by but what a 10 years it has been. The journey has been incredible and like everyone else I’m proud to have played a part in that journey. I want to thank everyone within the football club from past to present but more importantly to wish the club continued success.”
